VSCO Film 05 review
Dubbed "The Archetype Films edition" VSCO brings us its fifth installment of its film series which just may be the best one yet. I had the pleasure of putting it through its paces during my trip to vegas and im happy to say that VSCO's film emulations once again has lived up to its hype.
Film is bigger than just the grain, it has an organic look with colors balanced to give the best results depending on its intended application. VSCO helps bring these organic, warm & contrasty looks to our digital stills
Featuring a collection of consumer film emulations, VSCO 05 gives us gems such as the Kodak Ektar and Fuji Neopan amongst others that provide stunning results, especially when used with RAW photos. If you've followed some of my tutorials on video editing you would know that im passionate about making the images from our digital cameras look like film. Film is bigger than just the grain, it has an organic look with colors balanced to give the best results depending on its intended application. VSCO helps bring these organic, warm & contrasty looks to our digital stills with presets that are catered towards portraits and super contrasty film types for those that prefer to shoot gorgeous vistas.
VSCO as always creates profiles that works specifically with cameras like Canon 5D for example for better film emulation accuracy however I couldn't test that out for the fact that I shoot with a Panasonic GH3. All in all I think this edition is the best one yet, its very versatile for what it offers in case you were debating on which edition of the VSCO line to buy. Honestly I would buy them all because of the sheer options it gives you when editing photos, but for those of us who want to save $ I would settle for VSCO 05
