Zangetsu With That Lean: Bleach Chapter 541
In this week's chapter, Ichigo's Zanpakuto spirit, Zangetsu, is revealed to be the source of Ichigo's Quincy powers. For the past 500+ chapters, we were led to believe that "Zangetsu" was the supplier of Ichigo's Shinigami powers, when in reality it was Ichigo's inner Hollow that was the source. It turns out that "Zangetsu" has been suppressing Ichigo's real abilities this whole time to attempt to prevent him from becoming a full Shinigami, and whatever powers he was using are the ones that he couldn't suppress. However, "Zangetsu", over time, has developed a change of heart (AND BECAME SUPER SUS) in his stance of Ichigo's choice to become a Shinigami and decides to no longer suppress his real powers. The chapter ends with Ol Man Zan fading away (presumably forever) to reveal a new Zanpakuto blade, the true Zangetsu.
Bleach is full of bloody sword-play, many interesting characters with some of the most unique abilities and powers in manga history and fights on the scale of Dragonball Z bouts.
Since we're approaching the end of the series, Kubo has been keen to explain a lot of character backstories. Ol Man Zan is definitely one of the most mysterious characters in the Bleach mythos and this was quite the epic send-off. Everything from Zangetsu's appearance and abilities played a crucial role in Ichigo's heritage due to the fact that all Quincies have a part of the antagonist and creator of the Quincy, Juha Bach in them. Zangetsu really looks like a younger Juha Bach and not too many people caught on to that earlier. Anyways, looking forward to seeing Zangetsu's true form and the obviously massive power-up that Ichigo will receive.
Tite Kubo's most successful manga series to date is the action-packed supernatural fantasy tale, Bleach. In this world, Soul Reapers aka Shinigami guide spirits of the dead to a purgatory-esque land known as Soul Society. Corrupted wandering souls, the monstrous Hollows are hunted down by the Shinigami while spiritually-aware humans known as the Quincy are engaged in a conflict with the Shinigami that threatens the balance of the universe. The protagonist Ichigo Kurosaki, revealed to be an amalgamation of these spiritual species, could be the key to ending the war. In short, Bleach is full of bloody sword-play, many interesting characters with some of the most unique abilities and powers in manga history and fights on the scale of Dragonball Z bouts.
